Councillor Ken Stubbs was delighted to present Balu Madhvani & Allan Foad of the Walker Lines Gymnasium Trust with an Honoured Citizen Award during yesterday’s Mayor Choosing Ceremony at St Petroc’s Church.
Councillor Stubbs explained that over ten years ago a local businessman had a vision to create a sporting facility for the young people of Bodmin. The Walker Lines Gymnasium Trust was formed and Balu Madhvani with tremendous support from Allan Foad (the Trust Secretary) finally purchased the building on Walker Lines in 2013 from Bodmin Town Council.
Since then the Club has grown from strength to strength and now includes the Boxing Club, the Rifle Club, a music studio, a fintness centre and is also used by many other groups in the town.
The mantra of the Club is “Access to sport and chosen activity should be a right and not a privilege”.
Councillor Stubbs thanked Balu and Allan for their years of dedication and hard work for the Walker Lines Gymnasium Trust and wished them well in their future endeavours.
